The Ekegusii platform (ekegusii.co.ke) is a cultural and language preservation project dedicated to documenting and celebrating the Abagusii people's language and heritage. We collect only what is necessary to run this platform. This includes:

  • Contributions: When you submit a word, phrase, proverb, or correction, we collect your name and optionally your email address.
  • Contact messages: If you reach out to us via a contact form or email, we retain your name, email address, and message content.

b) Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: Pages visited, time spent, browser type, and device information collected via analytics tools.
  • Cookies: We use essential session cookies to keep the site functioning correctly. No advertising cookies are used.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Review and moderate your language contributions
  • Communicate with you about the status of your submission
  • Improve the quality and accuracy of content on the platform
  • Respond to your enquiries or feedback
  • Monitor and improve site performance and user experience

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

We retain contribution data (including your name and email) for as long as the platform is active and the content is relevant. If your contribution is declined, associated personal data is removed within 90 days. You may request earlier deletion at any time.
